Along with updating the new grades for this Fall 2006 semester, I have fixed the CSS so that it now validates, and the page also looks nice in the new IE7 (which changed a lot of its CSS rules and apparently now works more (or less) like Firefox. Unfortunately, to accomodate IE7 users I had to create a separate stylesheet, so now the XHTML is not strict and no longer validates. Darn.
Next project: move the news section to a blog embedded in this page, so that it's easier to update. I should also create a contact form for the contact page.
