Internation Women's Day WICS Potluck Lunch

Last week we realized that International Women's Day was on March 8th, and that we hadn't planned anything to commemorate it! So we decided to have a potluck, held today at lunch. We had a fairly nice turnout, although some had already left by the time we took this photo:

In honour of women in Computing Science and Technology, I arranged a quiz (with prizes!). It was quite difficult, and if you can get more than three answers correct, you truly are an expert on the history of women in technology. It's kind of sad that the quiz is so hard for us, when the women it concerns have accomplishments every bit as important as people like Turing. :(

You can give it a try below (because we are in Computing Science, this quiz starts at 0); I will post the answers later.

0. This woman is an IBM Fellow Emerita at the T J Watson Research Centre, and has in the past carried out secret intelligence work for forerunners of the NSA (National Security Agency). She is the first female recipient of the Turing Award (2006).
1. This woman wrote a scientific paper in 1843 that anticipated the development of computer software, artificial intelligence, and computer music.
2. What was the computer language named for the answer to #1?
3. This famous CEO of the popular online auction site eBay since March 1998 took the company from fewer than 100 employees to over 9,000 employees world wide.
4. This woman invented a computerized telephone switching system.
5. Which of the six women who were the original primary programmers for ENIAC went on to lay the groundwork for both COBOL and Fortran?
6. This woman invented the computer compiler, which translates English and other languages into computer language.
7. Who was the astronaut who developed an optical system to guide robots?
8. Name 3/6 of the 6 women ENIAC programmers.
9. Who was the first African American woman to travel in space?
10. Who invented the first disposable cell phone?
11. Who was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize?
12. What is a NooB? Be prepared to describe one you know.
