If you've never been to one of these events, now is a great time to start! The basic idea is to get technical women together and share a meal, listen to a technical talk, and network. Each time a different company sponsors the event, so I've been to talks at Amazon, Facebook, and of course Microsoft, and met lots of fabulous people each time!
The last Girl Geek Dinner I attended was at the Microsoft Store in Bellevue Square. It was (almost) too crowded! |

We have Girl Geek Dinners in Ottawa, but unfortunately I find that most of the audience consists of marketing/social media types (women near tech), and the topics for speakers can end up following suit. It was great that the last one apparently had half engineers/techies though! :D
You'll just have to invite all your technical friends Gail! ;)
Indeed! :)
(Actually we do advertise through WISE and such. I think that not all the topics appeal.)
It's true, sometimes the topics can be meh. Luckily the last few here have been great - stuff about scalable data from Amazon, xbox & Kinect from Microsoft, and social networking from Facebook.
